Up Chuck

On the route from Paris to our destination we went through a mountain range and then the valley near the town of Millau where there is a viaduct bridge.  There were lots and lots of windy roads.

Just before driving onto the bridge I began to feel unwell.  As I am too young to realise what was about to happen, I started to whine and calling for mum.

Unfortuanately, she was thinking I was just tired of sitting so tried to distract me but this proved to no avail.

Then on the bridge I started crying.  Not that "I'm mildly upset" nor the "I've had enough" sort of cry but the one where you honestly and truly are terrified because you just don't know what happened.  Furthermore, you know whatever "it" was is not meant to be happening.

Mum turned back to look at me only to discover that I’d thrown up all over myself and the car seat.  It wasn't very pleasant and was extremely upset; so much so that I wanted to climb out and into mummy's arms for comfort.

It was another 15 minutes before we could find an exit off the motorway and then a little layby so that we could get out.

As soon as I was out of the seat I jumped into mum's arms and refused to let go.  Mum was then covered in vomit.  We can only assume it was the up and down of the hills with the pressure change, and maybe some milk which could've been on the turn, just a few minutes before being sick that had caused the issue as I was fine as soon as I threw up.

Dad was left to clean out the car whilst plaquating Alexander who was disturbed by my sobs and the fact that he was the only one left in the car.  With the car moderately cleaned along with mum and me changed we continued our journey.

Obviously, we were all distracted by the events inside the car that we missed the wonderful bridge views and the architecture.

Bubble Wrap

Dad got a parcel which had lots and lots of bubble wrap to protect the contents.  He kindly let us play with some.

It kept us amused for about 3 hours.

Elsie's Birthday Party

Today the boys went to a birthday party for Elsie who is two.

It was held in a soft play adventure centre which had a large climbing area where even Alex could play without hurting himself.

Alex particularly enjoyed the ball pit and was a bit frustrated that he couldn't do what the big kids were doing.

Zachary had a great time climbing and sliding down with the older kids.

Holland Park

Annette and Holgar had never been to Holland Park so we meet them at Kensington Station before showing.

There is a kids play area which is a giant sand pit with a variety of equipment (slide, swings, etc) in the sand.

We found several items (spades, rakes, etc) which other children had left.

We wondered through the woodland where Max and Zachary took great delight in running away from us.

We took some pictues of the boys on the wooden chairs.

Queens Jubaliee

As part of the celebrations there was a massive boat floatilla down the Thames.  This event meant that all the bridges were closed except for ours as well as all the roads around the river.  Millions of people lined the shores to watch this event even thought it was a misserable and grey.

Given that we were basically trapped in the area we decided to take advantage of the event and take the boys local park which was in the opposite direction.

The park was basically deserted so the boys were spoilt for choice.

Occassionally a family would wonder through on their way to or from the festivities.

A girl (about 8 years old) from one such group played with Zachary for a few minutes before they had to go.  Before she left she kindly gave us her balloon; much to the delight of Zachary.

Thank goodness the little girl will never know that this wonderful gesture would only last 1 hour.
