A Pox On Me!

That’s right!

I got chicken pox and have been looking a little like a cheetah for the past week. Impressively I have
quite a few spots all over (even on the palms of my hands and special place).

Fortunately they haven’t been itchy so mum and dad only painted me once with camomile lotion. Ohhh that was very funny as I had white spots with pink dots in them.  :)

Dad has been home looking after both Alex and me for the last 5 days as he thought Alex might get it as well (he didn’t). Dad has had chicken pox so he was safe.

As mum is carrying Button she’s limiting contact with us which is a bit of a bummer as I want lots of hugs from her. She’s been doing the domestic stuff whilst dad’s been looking after us.

Mum had to have a blood test to check if she had had chicken pox (she has) so that was a relief.

Its been a bit boring as we’ve not been allowed to play with other kids at the park. A lot of parents whisk their kids away once mum warns them that I’m contagious (and they say people would pay to attend a chicken pox party!).

On the weekend mum and dad resorted to crafts so Alex and I were treated to painting, sticking and gluing, and playdo.

We made a mess.  :)

Italian Lunch

Amelia (well her parents - Travis and Zoe) invited us out for an Italian lunch.

We had a lovely 3 course lunch of chicken strips, garlic mushrooms, pizzas, Carbonara spaghetti, cheese cake and apple strudel with ice cream. And I got to sample everything.

I loved it!!! Yummmyyyyyyyy!

Afterwards we wondered through the city centre and found a small playground.

When we got to it there was only one other family and by the time we left (1 hour) it was chocccas.

It just shows that they need more facilities in the heart of London.

We had a great time climbing and sliding, though.

The Stringer men had a meeting and decided we should do this again.

Wimbledon Common

We met Elsie and her parents (Klara and Shaun) at the Windmill which is located in Wimbledon Common.

They walked from their house whilst we drove (as we lived further away) it took both of our groups 30 mins.

When we arrived we discovered that the Windmill museum and stables were having an open day (like a school fate). This included a small area cordoned off which contained various stalls (displays from local businesses, pony and tractor rides and light entertainment such as local groups performing).

We wondered around looking at the displays before heading towards the tractors. We were too little to go for a spin but they let Elsie and me sit in the cabin of the tractors. Alex was asleep so he missed out.

Ohhhhhh, it was lots of fun sitting up there. And very high!

Even the old’s were allowed a turn!

After that we went to the pony rides. When Elsie was visiting her grandparents she was learning to ride so was very keen to go on the ponies.Unfortunately, they were only allowing over 3 year old’s to go on but Klara told a fib (that Elsie was almost 3) and they reluctantly let her on.

I wasn’t bothered and was happy to watch with the big boys.

We all started to get peckish so we walked 30 mins through the woods to a local pub.We had dinner inside then moved outside to the grassy area where we spent the rest of the afternoon.

There was a big tree which was lovely and shady. It was also great to play around.Even Alex had a fun time.

Whilst we were there we noticed that Elsie had a tick in her skin near her hair line.It didn’t seem to hurt her but Klara got it out (she was a bit worried as ticks can transmit diseases).Dad thinks Elsie might have got it from the riding helmet as neither Alex nor I had any.

Mum and dad tried to convince me that there was a Womble come to say hello.  But I know they were off collecting useful stuff.

On the way back to the car Alex and I feel asleep. We were sooo tired that Mum and dad transferred us straight to our beds and we slept for the rest of the night

Button Here...

I know I've been quiet but it's hard to get noticed when you've got two older brothers.

To be honest, I really don't have much to say.  I've passed all my tests and growing on schedule so its all steady as you go.

Mum is now in her big clothes so she's packed all the rest away (AGAIN!!).

So far it's been a hoot hearing all the comments people have been making.   Here's just a few:

- "Wow, you're going to be busy". (when they're told mum has 3 under 3 years)

-  "You are brave!".  (or stupid?)

- "If you were Indian you'd be worshiped as a goddess."  (when the person found out that we'll be 3 boys from 3 pregnancies)

- "Your still pregnant?  I thought you'd had your second already."  (imagine their face when they discovered I'm no.3)

- "Can you get a pram for 3?"  (yep, that's how people of triplets cope and there are ones for quadruplets too)

- "You must LOVE being pregnant".  (ummmm no, not really)

- "You'll have to move now.  You've  only got a 2 bedrooms.".  (ummm there were 8 people living in my mum's  house when she was little and there were only 3 bedrooms).

- "Tis a shame this one isn't a girl.  Are you going to try again for a girl?  (ummmmm no, mum and dad weren't 'trying' for a girl.  They were trying for 3 healthy babies and they got them!)

Annette and Holgar's BBQ

We hadn't seen our friend, Max, for a while and his parents kindly offered to cook us a BBQ lunch.

It was one of the hottest days we've had this year so Annette brought out Max's old baby bath and filled it with water.  We all played together.

I tried to get in but mum was a spoil sport.

After lunch we chilled inside.

Chocolate Icecream at Bishops Park

More icecream?

No?
Sure?
Happy B-Day

It was our (Alex's and mine) birthday so mum and dad decided to do a joint party.  Well we actually had a BBQ.

We had a cake each so we could blow out the candles.  Mine was carrot cake and Alex had coffee cake.

Shhhhh - I sneaked some cake but Alex missed out.  ;)

There were about 10 people in all plus a few of my friends.

Before everyone arrived we decided to chill out by playing with some boxes.

Mum thought she'd be clever by putting some toys in a blow up pool so when my friends came they could play without making a total mess.

She was definately wrong about that as Alex decided to test it out.

We got some awesome presents, too.
Boys Room

Mum and dad finally got around to creating a room for Alex and me just in time for Button to arrive.

It looks like a bedroom now and not just a hodge podge of storage and makeshift sleeping area for me.

Mum likes it as all our toys and books are in one place and out of the lounge room.  Though I do bring a few toys and books into the lounge daily; not as much mess as it used to be.

Park, Park, PARK!!!

On our overnight stop at Brouge on the way home from our holiday mum and dad decided to have dinner in the old town.

The SatNav directed us to a parking space 200 metres away from the one we had on our first visit.

Strangely, the significance of this was lost to all but my mother as she noticed that there was a park with a playground not 10 metres from our latest parking spot.

This park was lined with tall trees on either side and a river.  Unfortunately, there wasn't a swing or a see saw in sight but it was wonderful nonetheless.

She convinced dad and Alan that it would be best for us to check it out as we'd had a long drive.

I love my mum!

Gleefully we spent about an hour climbing about.

For most of the time we were there we saw no one else let alone children then a couple of older children with their grandparents stopped for about 10mins.  They were too old for me to play with.

Life's A Beach

Each day we went to the beach and Dad would make a large hole in the sand near the water’s edge.  Then he would put a little wall around it so we could have a ‘bath’ when the waves filled it with water.

We loved this as we weren’t getting splashed by the waves of cold water and we could paddle etc. to our hearts content.  Mum and dad liked it as they felt we were contained.

Unfortunately, the waves would erode it eventually.  This was by no means the biggest destructive force; I was. ;)

I enjoyed sliding down and pretending to be humpty dumpty or trying to stomp on the wall as if it was a sand castle to be concquered.  Alex did help alittle.  This meant that dad was left constantly repairing the wall defences.
When I wasn’t destroying the ‘bath’ I was trying to engage Alan to play.  Alan was trying to sunbath but I kept asking him to look at shells, sticks, etc.  Alan managed to ignore me so I had no choice other than to came back to the ‘bath’.

Each time we went to the beach mum would pack a frozen picnic - milk, water, oranges, apples, piklets.  She'd pack them frozen and by the time we were hungry they'd have thawed out enough to be cool and refreshing.

Most of the time I played with Alex or mum and dad as everyone spoke French except for us.

On one occassion, about 15mins before we decided to leave, a little boy (about 5 who mum thought might have ADHD as he was a bit manic in his behaviour) came up and admired the ‘bath’ dad had made.

We invited him to play and he was very excited.   Despite the fact that we didn't speak each other's language we had managed to communicate enough to build a sand castle or two.  We ended up to play for about 30 mins.

Alex would have his nap whilst we were at the beach.  We'd often bring a pop up tent but Alex wouldn't sleep in it so mum and dad rigged up some shade with the pram.

Zoom Zoom Zoom

On Sunday there was the annual air show so throughout the later part of the week we have had various planes flying low over the town practicing their displays.

Normally I LOVE this sort of thing and I scream 'airplane' or 'chopper chopper' whilst pointing frantically at the sky.  However, they were very loud and very low.  It was very very scary.

It spooked me so much that I demanded to sit on mum or dad 's lap asking them to 'keep me warm' by grabbing their arms and forcing them to hug me as soon as I heard a whisper of an airplane.  This was because we were at the beach on a cold windy day on the first occasion they flew over so I thought that when they wrapped me up it was because of the planes.

As an aside, the whole town was heaving with people coming in to see the air display on Sunday afternoon.  It was so busy that all the roads were extremely congested with people parking along the side reducing the road to a single lane.

There were people wondering everywhere.  Every single space where you could see an open patch of sky was littered with people; some were even sitting on the bonnets of their cars.

To combat this influx of people (both local and tourists) the town was cordoned off by the police.  This meant that if you wanted to go out and then back to your apartment you were questioned at every corner that lead towards the residential areas.  It was worth the hassel as it meant that around our appartment it was reasonably quiet even when the partying began.

Mum and dad were a tad disappointed with the show on Sunday.  This was because there wasn't much of a display (only about 5 fly overs) and they'd seen it all in the practice days.

Marauding Invaders

We would often go to the beach after dinner as it was so light that no one could sleep.

On one occasion we were out quite early and most people were just leaving the beach to have dinner.  This meant that there were lots of sandcastles to jump on.

It was absolutely fantastic!

At one point we saw a family who were packing up and had a massive sandcastle next to them.

Not only were the children very concerned but also their parents, that we would destroy their efforts as they watched us approach.  I think they had seen Alex and me attacking other peoples castles.  ;)

They wouldn’t leave their castle until we walked past and then they waited on the path to the beach until we’d gone along way past.

Mum and dad wouldn't let us attack their castle as they could see the the other children would be very upset.

Candles

We had arrived about 4pm to our overnight stop - Bourges.

As it was stilll quite early and both Alexander and I were sick of sitting in the car, mum and dad decided to go into the old part of town where a major feature was the town cathedral.

It was quite ornate and large with exceptionally detailed stain glass windows though this was lost on Alexander and me as we just wanted to run around.
There were candles throughout the cathedral.  Big ones, small ones, fat ones and skinny ones.  They flickered gently as gusts of wind came into the cathedral when the people entered the doors.

All I wanted to do was to blow out the candles; just like we do with a birthday cake.
Mum wouldn't let me!   She was such a spoil sport!

Up Chuck

On the route from Paris to our destination we went through a mountain range and then the valley near the town of Millau where there is a viaduct bridge.  There were lots and lots of windy roads.

Just before driving onto the bridge I began to feel unwell.  As I am too young to realise what was about to happen, I started to whine and calling for mum.

Unfortuanately, she was thinking I was just tired of sitting so tried to distract me but this proved to no avail.

Then on the bridge I started crying.  Not that "I'm mildly upset" nor the "I've had enough" sort of cry but the one where you honestly and truly are terrified because you just don't know what happened.  Furthermore, you know whatever "it" was is not meant to be happening.

Mum turned back to look at me only to discover that I’d thrown up all over myself and the car seat.  It wasn't very pleasant and was extremely upset; so much so that I wanted to climb out and into mummy's arms for comfort.

It was another 15 minutes before we could find an exit off the motorway and then a little layby so that we could get out.

As soon as I was out of the seat I jumped into mum's arms and refused to let go.  Mum was then covered in vomit.  We can only assume it was the up and down of the hills with the pressure change, and maybe some milk which could've been on the turn, just a few minutes before being sick that had caused the issue as I was fine as soon as I threw up.

Dad was left to clean out the car whilst plaquating Alexander who was disturbed by my sobs and the fact that he was the only one left in the car.  With the car moderately cleaned along with mum and me changed we continued our journey.

Obviously, we were all distracted by the events inside the car that we missed the wonderful bridge views and the architecture.
